Protect Your Baby From Allergies with 2 Simple Steps

By Susan Leventhal

Allergies are all around us these days. Since we all want the absolute best for our children the last thing we would wish upon them is allergies. Since we already know about peanut, egg and dust mite allergies that seems more than enough to worry about at this time, but did you know that even cockroaches can cause allergic reactions to people that have already developed asthma?

They say more kids are getting allergic to certain things now more than ever. Some say it is because of the mother's nutrition when the baby is in the womb. I am not certain one way or the other all I know is it is so important to get the baby all sorts of nutrition in the womb, especially protein. It is suggested the mother gets approximately 100 grams of protein per day.

If you get watery eyes and sneezing while you are trying to sleep it may be caused by dust mites living in your mattress. Dust mites can also live in your furniture and carpet. One of the reasons why people develop allergies while they are sleeping is because of unclean bedding. One way to do this is to get a mattress protector so you can take it off and clean it, because it is hard to clean an entire mattress.

What happens is when we sleep we actually are shedding skin and these teeny, tiny bugs called dust mites feed on our skin. I know its gross but it happens. This "feeding" may cause us to develop a rash during the night. Not only can mites feed on you but if you have a severe cockroach infestation, cockroaches can feebly feed on your baby's fingernails and eyelashes.

Getting your rash and bites diagnosed by a doctor can sometimes be misleading. I have seen doctors think it is allergies when it is actually bed bug bites. On the other hand I have seen people with bed bugs get diagnosed with a psychotic drug because they didn't take the time to identify what was causing the reaction.

There are many good ways to help someone who suffers from allergies. For example, if your baby is suffering from allergies you can get them a product from Allersafe. This company makes allergy safe bedding, a baby sleeping bag, and other materials for your baby out of an antifungal and antibacterial material that makes it impossible for the dust mite to survive.

The second step to protecting yourself and your baby from allergies is getting a good vacuum with a heap filter. You need to make sure that you are vacuuming at least once a week. Besides the carpet you also need to vacuum the furniture. Tummy time for your baby is important during developmental stages so you definitely want to have your carpet free of dust mites and allergens during this period.

Knowing that I am not a doctor and am no way giving medical advice, you still want to give your child the best you can offer. These are just a few tips to help protect your child from allergies and from developing allergic reactions to certain types of irritants. - 32378
